One of the key aspects of music education is motivation. No matter whether you are a student striving to reach another musical level, an independent musician building regular practice habits, or a teacher motivating your ensemble to improve, setting yourself goals can play an enormous role.
At Sight Reading Factory, we try to come up with new ways to make the process of practicing sight reading more fun and motivating. That's why we are happy to present you a new feature:
Introducing Badges: a fun and motivating system to track progress, celebrate achievements, and encourage regular practice.
Using Badges, musicians get various achievements through completing sight reading challenges and reaching different milestones.
Badges
Upon clicking on the Quest tab, you will see your badge dashboard. If you are a teacher, on your right side of the screen you will be able to select whether you are viewing your students’ badges or your own progress. Here you will be able to check your current practice streak, see your achieved achievements, and your progress towards active badges.
When practicing using our Auto Assessment feature, you will automatically make progress towards badges and monthly challenges. As soon as you meet all the conditions needed for a badge to be earned, you will earn it.
The typical requirements for making progress towards a badge are:
- Practice using the Auto Assessment feature
- Generate an exercise that is longer than 4 measures
- Achieve a minimum score of 90%
- Only your first attempt of an exercise counts (otherwise it's not sight reading!)
- Complete the minimum number of exercises required using the specified time and key signatures for that badge
Monthly Challenges
In addition to the standard badges, you can earn badges for our Monthly Challenges which change each month. These allow musicians to receive exclusive achievements throughout the year.
Badges also have great potential for teachers.
Teachers can easily toggle between their own badge achievements and those earned by students in their classes. Badges provide a fun way to recognize accomplishments, motivate students to participate in challenges, and monitor progress across your entire ensemble.
But wait, there is more.
Custom Badges
Every class is different, so why should every achievement be the same? With Custom Badges, teachers can review specific concepts, use their own custom levels, and organize new practice games.
To learn more about creating Custom Badges for your students visit our Feature Focus page on Custom Badges, which will tell you how you can create and manage badge challenges for your class(es).
We are extremely excited about introducing Badges to the Sight Reading Factory community. We are sure that this feature will help the musicians stay motivated and support development and progress.
Earn your first badges right now by visiting the Quest tab and completing challenges.
